A Shopify Connection Is Only as Good as Its Setup
Plenty of 3PLs will tell you Shopify integration is plug-and-play. It isn’t — get the setup wrong and you’ll oversell items that are actually out of stock, or watch orders quietly fail to sync. Before your store goes live on our system, we make sure:
- Every Shopify product and variant has a unique SKU — and it matches exactly between Shopify and Extensiv.
- Inventory tracking is switched on for every SKU that needs to stay in sync between the two systems.
- Shipping methods are mapped correctly on both sides, so the right service ships every time.
- If you run multiple Shopify locations, each one is mapped to the correct fulfillment location.
- Receiving inventory in Shopify doesn’t create it in Extensiv — we still create and confirm the receipt on our end, every time.
One thing we plan around from day one: Extensiv posts tracking back to Shopify at the order level. If an order ships split or short, Shopify can mark it as completely fulfilled even when part of it hasn’t shipped yet. If you ship split orders often, this needs a deliberate workflow — not a surprise you discover after a customer complains.
